12 Aug Myths about design work – busted
There are a number of myths surrounding design work and we’re here to set them straight!
- You should design with your taste in mind
Whether it’s a vehicle graphic, shop sign or exhibition stand, you should always design with your customers in mind. After all, it’s them that are going to be seeing it and it’s for their benefit, not yours. Just because you like a particular colour, font or design doesn’t mean it will work best for your business or industry.
- The bolder the better
Whilst it’s true that you always want an eye-catching design, sometimes less is more. Going too gaudy can be quite off putting and it’s vital you choose your colours and shades carefully. Sometimes an understated design can help you stand out from the crowd.
- You don’t need to update your designs
Whatever it is; logo, website, banner, shop front, you really should think about updating your designs every few years. Every brand does it, even the big ones such as Netflix and Pepsi. A lot of businesses are too scared to make any changes to their branding or their designs and it can be detrimental to their success. Keep things fresh!
